TASK

Development of an animation video for the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall

DECISION

The second part of the rap battle between Konrad Adenauer and Walter Ulbricht immerses us in the events that precede the fall of the Berlin Wall. This is a continuation of the dialogue that began in the first part of the battle: then everything was concentrated around the construction of the Berlin Wall, but now the focus of the story was shifted to the story of its fall. We have kept the same stylistic coloring of the video and focused on the transmission of historical events through the prism of modern narration.

To tell this story to the current generation in a simple language, we combined the formats of both the visual and the sound part: the animation was created using the collage technique and supported by a unique rap performed by the head of the Belarusian office of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.

In each collage, authentic visual materials play on the contrasts of the past and the present, creating understandable images and building a holistic perception of the storyline along with a memorable sound.

In the color scheme, we adhered to the references created in the first part of the animation: the words of Konrad Adenauer are supported by the blue color of the scenes, and the words of Walter Ulbricht — by the red color of the scenes. This color coding is not accidental, since blue is the personification of freedom and a bright future, and red is a symbol of communism, of which Walter Ulbricht was an adherent.
